بالإضافة الى تحسين الظروف المعيشية والمساعدة في التخفيف من درجات الحرارة القصوى في الصيف في العراق ، فإن إعادة التأهيل وصيانة المساحات العامة في المدن المتضررة من الحرب توفر فرص عمل كثيفة العمالة وصقل مهارات الشباب
وإدراكًا لذلك ، اختتم موئل الأمم المتحدة مؤخرًا الجولة الأخيرة من التدريب المهني أثناء العمل لـ 26 شابًا وشابة من العاطلين عن العمل في الموصل على الأعمال المدنية التي شملت التجصيص والطلاء والأعمال الكهربائية والحدادة. أقيمت الدورات التدريبية النظرية والعملية في حديقة اليرموك من قبل مدربين متخصصين من مركز التدريب المهني في نينوى بالشراكة مع الجمعية الهندسية للتنمية والبيئة وبالتعاون مع بلدية الموصل .تم تصميم هذا المشروع لتحسين فرص عمل الشباب في الأعمال المدنية وزيادة توسيع ملكية المجتمع المحلي للحديقة التي تم افتتاحها حديثًا. تم تنظيم هذه المبادرة الهامة في إطار برنامج “دعم تعافي العراق واستقرارعبر التنمية المحلية الممول من قبل الاتحاد الأوروبي
Aside from improving living conditions and helping to mitigate the extreme temperatures of Iraqi summers, the physical rehabilitation and maintenance of #publicspaces in war-affected cities offer labour-intensive job opportunities and the upskilling of youth.
Conscious of this, UN-Habitat has recently concluded the final round of on-the-job vocational training for 26 unemployed male and female youth in #Mosul on civil works that included plastering, painting, electrical and steel works. The theoretical and practical training courses were conducted in Al-Yarmouk park by specialized trainers from Nineveh Vocational Training Centre (VTC) in partnership with the Engineering Association for Development and Environment (EADE) and Mosul Municipality. This project was designed to improve the youth’s employment prospects in civil works and further expand the local community’s ownership of the newly inaugurated park. This important initiative is delivered under the #EuropeanUnion-funded programme “Supporting Recovery and Stability in Iraq through Local Development”.
