حددت الدورة السادسة عشرة لمؤتمر الأطراف «كوب 16» , والذي تنظمه منظمة الامم المتحدة لأتفاقية مكافحة التصحر حالياً في الرياض/ المملكة العربية السعودية, هدفاً طموحاً يتمثل في استعادة 1.5 مليار هكتار من الأراضي المتدهورة بحلول عام 2030، وتحت شعار «أرضنا، مستقبلنا»، يبرز هذا الحدث، الذي يُعقد لأول مرة في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا، الحاجة الملحة للتعاون الدولي لمكافحة التصحر وتعزيز الاستدامة، فيما يلي استعراض شامل لتأثيرات وأهمية أهداف كوب 16.
The sixteenth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) which is currently organized by the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification-UNCCD in Riyadh / Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, set an ambitious goal of restoring 1.5 billion hectares of degraded land by 2030.
